JP co-wrote the 3-week running #1 hit song, Best Shot, which rocketed super artist Jimmie Allen's career to the top of Country music. He also earned another #1 hit in Gospel with Christian artist Brian Free and Assurance called Never Walk Alone.
JP has a string of album cuts with Jimmie Allen and other artists… all from his 7 years of rolling up sleeves co-writing on Nashville’s music row.
He’s opened for artists like Randy Travis, Jo Dee Messina, and other major label acts.
JP also had the rare honor to perform a stunning acoustic version of a song he co-wrote with Bobby Tomberlin, The Grand Ole Opry, on Nashville’s Grand Old Opry stage.
In addition to songwriting, JP is an accomplished singer, songwriting workshop leader, and public speaker. Blind since age 10, he brings a unique, seasoned perspective to every opportunity. He has an innate gift for connecting with audiences through humor and music to share wisdom and inspiration.
As a purpose and empowerment life coach, JP uses the power of songwriting to coach others in a journey of self-discovery.

This isn’t your typical songwriting workshop. JPs unique background and skill set will give you insights to your co-writing sessions like no one else can deliver.
- Together, you'll explore the psychology of co-writing. That includes figuring out how to find the most powerful way to tell any given story with your cowriters.
- You’ll find out why what’s going on in your head is really different than what’s going on in the room, and what that means to your songwriting.
- He’ll give you personal insight on how to view your co-writer going into your session that will positively impact the writing you’ll do together.
- He’ll help you with the most feared element in co-writing… silence, and what to do with it. And it’s probably not at all what you think.
- You'll discover how you can rid any co-writing jitters you might have, no matter how much you've had them in the past.
As a former staff writer for 7 years on Nashville's infamous Music Row, writing with different people day in and day out… JP developed successful insights into co-writing. He'll share those valuable discoveries so you can use them in your own co-writing from this workshop forward.
He’ll give you nuggets of wisdom about the expectations you may have in the co-writing session, which might be a bit of a surprise.
What about writer’s block?
It'd be nice to know how to take control over writer's block and get to writing… put it behind you, right? He’ll tackle that too.
You’ll also dive into more complex ways how you and your co-writer can use perspective to bring out the most emotion from all your lyrics.
This isn’t a simple sit and take notes session, though you should take notes. We’ll be rolling up our sleeves and doing some real-time breakout sessions. We'll be applying the knowledge he’s handed you in live, real-time writing exercises.
He’ll even finish up the session with helpful insights for your songwriting dreams and aspirations, no matter what they are for you personally.
