About/Bio |
Bob grew up in the Chicagoland part of Northwest Indiana and began his musical career playing the accordion at age 9. At 12, Bob discovered Rock and Roll and traded the accordion for a bass guitar and joined a garage band, The Ravens. Bob’s journey into the world of acoustic guitar and songwriting began when he was a senior in high school and attended a Pete Seeger concert. The next day Bob traded the bass for a Gibson 12 string and began to sing and play at coffee houses around the Chicago area including The Earl of Old Town. Bob was a member of a bluegrass (jug) band, The Growing Concern, where he played guitar, harmonica and sang (mostly the high harmonies). Family and work put Bob’s musical interests on hold for several years, until 18 years ago when Bob picked up his acoustic guitar. He has not put it down since. This is also when Bob seriously began to write and perform his own songs. Bob is a multi-instrumentalist playing, guitar, bass, accordion, keyboards, banjo, mandolin, harmonica and percussion. He currently performs with his wife, Glenda, as the duo, Why Worry? Bob usually plays the guitar and sings while Glenda sings, plays the flute, tin whistles and the melodica.
