We will be discussing songwriters that have influenced our writing over the years.  What is it about them that sparked your interest to become a writer?

What have you learned about style and structure and the importance each plays in writing your next "hit"?

Each participant will be encouraged to share a song by a writer of their choice, and after listening, will discuss what it is about that song and the style in general that speaks to them.

Participants can choose to share a recorded version of the song by the artist, a cover of the song they have recorded themselves, or they can play it live.

While Carole King and James Taylor might be masters of their craft, there are many hidden gems out there too. In selecting songs, it might be interesting to consider songwriters that are less well known in order to expand our horizons.

This one should be especially fun and informative!
