Songwriting Craft Workshop – All About Hooks- How To Write The Chorus
February 11, 2021 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The Chorus is the emotional centerpiece, and the big why of your songs. It is the part of songs that people usually remember, and it is the part that everyone sings along to.
Writing great Choruses can sometimes come naturally, but there is a lot that you can do to make your hooks stand out. We will be doing some writing exercises as well as exploring songwriting concepts like:
- What makes a Chorus memorable?
- What is the real job of a Chorus?
- What melodic tools do you have for your Chorus?
- What Harmonic tools do you have for your Chorus?
- How to Contrast your Hook from other song sections.
- Where to find Hook/Chorus ideas.
Have something to write on, and come prepared to have fun networking and working with other songwriters. You will leave with ideas, tools, and tips that you can use in your writing over and over.
We welcome all songwriters to our workshops that we hold monthly on the 2nd Thursday of the month. Please check out https://www.mnsongwriters.org for more information on our group, and how you can become an official member. We look forward to meeting you!
