October 8, 2020 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

This month we are going to be exploring Song Forms and the effective use of repetition. Each song section has a job to do. Knowing what role each has to play can help you make decisions on how to layout and structure your song. There are common song forms, but why do they work the way they do? Why do people use them over and over? We will explore this.
We will also look at why repetition is your friend as a songwriter.

Other topics we will discuss:

Developmental vs Central Sections
What are song systems?
What role does contrast play in song systems?
What is a refrain?
Does your song need a Chorus?
Balance, pace, flow, and closure.

Each month we meet and study the craft of songwriting virtually. It is a great, and fun way to connect with other writers. You will leave with new tools, techniques, and ideas to write more songs. We invite songwriters of all levels to attend. These workshops are free and shared via Zoom.  E-mail for the Zoom link to attend.
