Lyrics:

In the Stillness of the Night May 2025
By Mark Grim

1. I just can’t wait ‘til the sun goes down/ and the
stars wander by/ and the
fire flies arise and shine./ I’ll
wait for you in the stillness of the night.

2. This/ small town park still hasn’t changed/ from a
night much like this/ back
when we kissed our final kiss/ and
pre-chorus: turned away not knowing what comes next.

Chorus:
I/ felt as if the time for change had come./ I
found myself without you./ At
night I’d dream about you, /wake
up and ask myself what have I done.

3. My spouse is gone and the kids are grown./ I don’t
mind if I’m alone./ That’s a
part of me that I’ve let go./ My
time with you was the best I’ve ever known.

4. I’d give so much just to hear your voice/ and to
hear the things you’d say./ Have you
tell me how your life has changed/ from the
pre-chorus: day I left through the years until today.

Chorus:

I/ felt as if the time for change had come./ I
found myself without you./ At
night I’d dream about you,/ wake
up and ask myself what have I done.

5. I’ll say good night to the rising sun/ while the
town comes to life./ I’ll
close my eyes one more time/ to
face the past and the one I left behind.

6. This time next year I’ll come back again/ as the
stars wander by/ and the
fire flies arise and shine./ I’ll
pre-chorus: wait for you in the stillness of the night.
(repeat melody of pre-chorus)

I just can’t wait ‘til the sun goes down

Comments by composer(s):

I submitted this song last month under the name I Just Can’t Wait. I revised and retitled the song, keeping in mind several suggestions that were given during the review session. I think the song has turned out much better as a result of those suggestions.
