THE PERFECT SONG
Terry Kennedy-Lares copyright 2025
I sat down on Saturday morning,
trying to write a song about love,
the rain turned to mist now it’s forming
a rainbow in the sky up above
Then words come to mind
how the sun is gonna shine,
and everything is gonna be alright.
Chorus:
I’m gonna write the perfect song
so you can sing along
and feel like I wrote it from the heart.
I’m gonna write the perfect verse,
to feed the Nashville curse,
where money’s more important than the Art.
They promised I could make some money
if I learned about melody and rhyme,
While counting words and spinning metaphors
I forget about my soul all the time.
then the thought comes to mind,
why are you searching for that rhyme,
why are you writing this at all.
Chorus
I gotta write a song each day,
they tell me thats the way,
but all it does is clutter up my mind.
Chorus
Money’s not important, AI makes you impotent,
But nothings more important than the Art.
Sorry, but this is my brother's birthday and I can't be with you. If you want to review this "Perfect Song" I'll catch the replay. If not that's ok too.
This is just a basic mix and still has a lot of polishing to do before it's ready for release. But it brings up the many issues of songwriting that we've been talking about lately, which is what sparked the idea for the song.
