Long Way Home

She was walking, scrolling through the endless noise of her day.
Lost in the glow of her screen, the world just drifted away.
She was restless, overthinking every word he didn't speak.
Shadows chasing her mind, and the nights all felt too weak.
It's a long way home, it's a long way home.
When your heart is full of discontent
And you don't know what he meant,
It's a long way home.
She was crying, tears falling fast like hard summer rain.
Every buzz on her phone just reminded her of the pain.
She was hopeful, breathing deep and letting go at last.
Turning the page on the hurt, leaving everything in the past.
All the words left unspoken,
All the silence cut so deep.
She’s been carrying the weight,
But it's time to set it free.
It's a long way home, it's a long way home.
When your heart is full of discontent
And you don't know what he meant,
It's a long way home. (you don't know what he meant)
It's a long way home. (you don't know what he meant)
It's a long way home. (you don't know what he meant)
It's a long way home.
A song I originally wrote in 2015 that I dug out and reworked a bit. I rearranged to fit a brief calling for "Yacht Rock". Vocal by Lacey Bortvit.
