Lyrics:

WHERE LOVE AND CONSEQUENCE MEET
By Paul Nye

VERSE 1:
An empty swing sways in the backyard, where Jimmy & Susie once played
Her doll lies still in the ditch, and Jimmy has no words to say
Susie’s mom and dad sit silent, ‘round the kitchen table tonight
No words could bring comfort, of what they feel inside

VERSE 2:
Susie was walking home one evening, as Jimmy turned his eyes from the road
To read a text from his girlfriend saying, her love for him had grown cold
He never saw it coming , thought one day she’d be his bride
Dropped his phone when he looked up, and saw the fear in little Susie’s eyes

CHORUS:
Life can change in an instant, our dreams become the cost. We search for grace and mercy, when we feel empty & lost. Yeah,
Life can change in an instant, the pain is dark & deep,
Yet hope still lives inside, where love and consequence meet. Where love and consequence meet

VERSE 3:
Now Susie wears a dress of redemption, and Jimmy is paying the price
Their mom & dad are caught between their love for a son & their little girl who died
They live with the consequence, the pain and hurt never goes away
But they cling to love & forgiveness; hoping they’ll be a family one day

CHORUS:
Life can change in an instant, and our dreams become the cost. We search for grace and mercy, when we feel empty & lost. Yeah,
Life can change in an instant, the pain is dark & deep,
Yet hope still lives inside, where love and consequence meet. Where love and consequence meet

BRIDGE:

They pray for strength they don’t possess, to accept what they can’t forget,

CHORUS:
Life can change in an instant, our dreams become the cost. We search for grace and mercy, at the foot of the cross. Yeah,
Life can change in an instant, though the pain is dark & deep,
Yet hope still lives inside, where love and consequence meet. Hope still lives inside, where love and consequence meet. Where love and consequence meet
