The moon has fallen from our sky
And silence lingers where it shone
The sun won't rise, we don't know why
Just that something's deeply wrong
Reach down deep to face the fear
Fight or flight our only path
Everything has changed from here
This is life in the aftermath
When solid ties are powder thin
And trust is hard to name
The ones we leaned from disappear
While hearts assign the blame
Reach down deep to face the fear
Fight or flight our only path
Everything has changed from here
This is life in the aftermath
We lit a fire to chase the dark
Shared stories through the night
Even when the world fell apart
We held each other tight
And misery feels like home
Gravity pulls from the sky
When everything begins to hold
Time slows as moments multiply
We calmed the sea with steady hands
And made the waves our friends
We count our blessings where we stand
It's good to know it's not the end
Reach down deep to face the fear
Fight or flight our only path
Everything has changed from here
This is life in the aftermath
Vocal by Clare Dove. I wrote this one about the state of affairs in the country about a year ago. It's even more true today.
