SHORTCUT THROUGH THE CEMETERY
VERSE
Shortcut through the cemetery, Feel the ghosts from folks who live there
All around me
You know, I thought it would be scary, Unseen shadows everywhere
But I don't see
CHORUS
I'm blinded by my memories, As I am walking through the trees
I hear the rustling of the leaves, Complaining to the breeze
VERSE
Shortcut through the cemetery; Keep my head down as I'm walking
Through the grass
In the light I'm not so wary, But I really don't like talking
As I pass
CHORUS
I'm blinded by my memories, As I am walking through the trees
I hear the rustling of the leaves, Complaining to the breeze
BRIDGE
One stone draws me; One name engraved
He's not here wandering; He's laid aside his chains
CHORUS
I'm blinded by my memories, As I am walking through the trees
I hear the rustling of the leaves, Complaining to the breeze

This song is my response to Prompt #4 of this winter's Facebook Singer-Songwriter Songwriting Challenge. I experimented with production on this one. I typed the chords into the app Songsmith. Then I loaded the result into Suno and had it make a cover. This was all instrumental only so far. Then I downloaded the stems from Suno and put my vocal track in, which (if I remember correctly) I had already done. And it fit. I didn't tinker at all with the stems from Suno; I just used them as they were. I spent some time on mixing them with my vocal but never felt like that went well.
