I Just Want to be Heard

[VERSE 1]
I was young naive and on a mission
A writer of songs with lofty ambitions
Thought you measured worth in money and fame
My goal was for the world to know my name
[VERSE 2]
Left for Music City with a bag and a 6-string
Found a music bar where I could play and sing
Thought I’d stand out in the Nashville scene
But I was one of a thousand chasing that dream
[PRE-CHORUS]
Now I don’t think about stardom
Playing on the big stage
Give me a room with listeners I can engage
[CHORUS]
I just want to be heard
The message is what matters not the size of the house
Want them to understand what each song is about
I just want to be heard
I just want to be heard
[VERSE 3]
I don’t listen to the so-called experts
Who say I need songs with catchy hooks
The kind you can’t get out of your head
I give them something to think about instead
[PRE-CHORUS]
Don’t want to be like all the rest
Not trying to be the best
Not a poet or a profit but there is much I need to say
[CHORUS]
I just want to be heard
The message is what matters not the size of the house
Want them to understand what each song is about
I just want to be heard
I just want to be heard
[BRIDGE]
There is so much satisfaction
In seeing people’s reactions
As they connect with the thoughts that I express
That’s my definition of success
[CHORUS]
I just want to be heard
The message is what matters not the size of the house
Want them to understand what each song is about
I just want to be heard
I just want to be heard
I'm on a little vacation from winter, no access to my studio gear, so not able to produce this myself. I recorded a crude demo on my laptop and uploaded it to Suno, which made this cover version of my demo. It followed the original melody very closely.
