4,000 WEEKS
By Paul Nye
VERSE 1:
My first job at Burger King lasted only two weeks
I was a flash in a pan on their grill
Ha, it’s just like life – here today and then gone
From the day we’re born it’s all downhill
CHORUS:
I’m insignificant, in this world
Got about 4,000 weeks ‘til I wear a suit of sod
Insignificant, don’t take life too seriously, oh no
My time on earth is like a wink and a nod
This ain’t my real home, I’m a child loved & owned by God, oh yeah
Owned by God
VERSE 2:
My job at Burger King didn’t turn out like I planned
A short order got me cooked & fried
But Jesus, my King – saved my soul
For that he got crucified
CHORUS:
I’m insignificant, in this world
Got about 4,000 weeks ‘til I wear a suit of sod
Insignificant, don’t take life too seriously, oh no
My time on earth is like a wink and a nod
This ain’t my real home, I’m a child loved by God
BRIDGE:
It was Jesus boss who put him on the cross
The life he gave was the life he lost
END CHORUS:
I am significant to him
Now I’m closer to the Son, yes I am
I’m significant to him, I’m a child of God, yes I am
My life on earth is almost done
Someday soon, I’m gonna meet the significant One
Yes I am. That makes me significant
I’m significant to God. Significant
BACKGROUND: This song explores the tension between human insignificance and divine significance through self-deprecating humor, ordinary working-class imagery, and the realization that while we may feel small in the world’s eyes, we are deeply significant to God.
Musically, the production leans into a very organic “human rhythm” approach — all percussion and drum sounds were created entirely with mouth and body percussion, and vocal sounds rather than traditional drums, giving the track an intimate rhythmic texture inspired partly by Michael Jackson-style vocal groove elements. The song begins with existential humor before gradually pivoting toward identity, redemption, and belonging.
