VERSE 1
Her car a classic beauty and so was she
Like a fantasy girl with golden hair and a golden smile
She could have had her choice of lovers but she chose me
I spent the whole summer loving her mile after mile
CHORUS
She drove a ’57 Thunderbird
I was her only passenger
A ’57 Thunderbird
She ran us both through all the gears
Legendary automotive art
She had the roadmap to my heart
VERSE 2
It was a blazing hot summer in many ways
On a blanket at the beach or under starlit skies
The T-Bird kept humming both night and day
I didn’t know what was hiding behind her blue eyes
CHORUS
She drove a ’57 Thunderbird
I was her only passenger
A ’57 Thunderbird
She ran us both through all the gears
Legendary automotive art
She had the roadmap to my heart
REPEAT CHORUS
VERSE 3
We roared into August engine running hot
The highway ahead was looking free and clear
Thought at our final destination we might tie the knot
I didn’t know the end of the road was getting near
BRIDGE
September came the air grew colder
There was no tenderness when I’d hold her
A different lover would soon be by her side
She told me I’d taken my last ride
Everything I knew went up in smoke that day
No explanation she just drove away
CHORUS
In her ’57 Thunderbird
I was her only passenger
A ’57 Thunderbird
She ran us both through all the gears
Legendary automotive art
She had the roadmap to my heart
