The Ordinary Alligator
Terry Kennedy-Lares 2026
I’m just an ordinary alligator lyin’ on the bank,
watchin’ as the water flows by,
with my olive-grey suit and my long spiky tail,
alligator tears in my eyes
What’s this ol’ world comin’ to,
with alligators runnin’ the show,
preyin’ on the little folk swimmin’ up stream,
where did our harmony go?
I’m just an ordinary alligator livin’ in the swamp,
politics are on my side,
with a corrupt eco-system and my powerful tail,
I don’t have to hide.
What’s this ol’ world comin’ to,
when alligators own the swamp,
eattin’ up the resources stealin’ everything,
thinkin’ that life is just a romp.
I’m just an ordinary alligator……lyin’ on the bank
with my olive-grey suit and my long spiky tail,
alligator tears in my eyes
What’s that ol’ world comin’ to,
when alligators have control,
takin’ every thing from the little folk,
even stealing their soul.
What’s this ol’ world comin’ to,
when no one else can swim in the pond,
hoarding all the fish, stirring up the mud,
how can that be doing any harm.
