VERSE 1:
I wanna write a song better than it sounds
And play it for a singer-songwriter round
I wanna write a song best as I can
Shouldn’t be too hard for this songwritin’ man
(ANTI) PRE-CHORUS:
Right here is where I should sing my chorus
But, Verse 2 might have a sexy “meta-for-us”
VERSE 2:
(You see) writing a new song is complicated
Where so-called tools are really rules someone created
They say, “Get to the Chorus…don’t bore us”
So let me introduce you to “My Chorus”
CHORUS:
This song is my chorus, “My Chorus”
My incredibly catchy, unique chorus
Couldn’t find the right word in my Thesaurus
That’s why I call this song “My Chorus”
VERSE 3:
There was a hit song in the 60s, ‘bout Henry, the King
(But) the lyrics didn’t mean a thing.
Herman’s Hermits sang,“2nd verse, same as the 1st”
There goes every writin’ rule I’ve rehearsed
CHORUS:
This song is my chorus, “My Chorus”
My incredibly catchy unique chorus
Couldn’t find the right word in my Thesaurus
That’s why I call this song “My Chorus”
BRIDGE:
I’ve heard it said, “Omit needless words – be terse”
That’s a bit ironic in this over-written verse
CHORUS:
I’m gonna call this song “My Chorus,”
My incredibly catchy original chorus
I gave up on my worthless Thesaurus
‘Cause all them so-called “tools” are cliché, of “COR-us” (course)
And if no one ever pays me for this
At least I got to write “My Chorus”
Just for fun, just' cause I'm that way.
