Empty House
VERSE 1
The sound of my own footsteps echos off the walls
As I take one final trip through the rooms and down the halls
Our old house is as empty now as the feeling I have inside
When I think about what I’ve become since her love for me died
VERVE 2
We had been together since we were only teens
I was her knight in shining armor and she was my queen
A storybook beginning that didn’t have a happy ending
When love becomes one-sided there’s no use in pretending
CHORUS
Empty house empty arms empty life
Still in love with a woman no longer my wife
She told me I was not to blame
The flame had just gone out
All I am left with are my memories and this old empty house
All I am left with are my memories and this old empty house
VERSE 3
I think back on our excitement when we first moved in
We couldn’t wait for our new life in our new home to begin
We had saved and sacrificed now this was our reward
It wasn’t quite our dream home but what we could afford
CHORUS
Empty house empty arms empty life
Still in love with a woman no longer my wife
She told me I was not to blame
The flame had just gone out
All I am left with are my memories and this old empty house
All I am left with are my memories and this old empty house
VERSE 4
Now all the things we had that make a house into a home
Have been boxed up and hauled away, our garden overgrown
In my mind I see what used to be in every room I pass by
All I can do is stand and stare, I’ve got no tears left to cry
CHORUS
Empty house empty arms empty life
Still in love with a woman no longer my wife
She told me I was not to blame
The flame had just gone out
All I am left with are my memories and this old empty house
All I am left with are my memories and this old empty house
