Lyrics:

[VERSE ONE]
It’s one of my “Red Light Devotions”
I still make a wish when the clock shows twenty-three
I spent years holding out for the “what-ifs”
I’ve held onto hope that never held onto me

Every time I thought I saw it coming
It would fade away before I could get close
Now what I’ve wanted all these years
Is right here… but I don’t know

[PRE-CHORUS ONE]
I’ve learned to live with disappointment
Like it’s flowing through my veins
And it seems like disappointment is what I’ve become these days

[CHORUS]
If this is real
Why am I so terrified?
Why am I grieving what I’ve waited for
For the last eight years of my life?
This is everything I’ve wanted – NEEDED
So, why am I so damn afraid?
Is this finally everything I’ve prayed for
Or just another masquerade?

[VERSE TWO]
Everyone says I should be smiling – happy
After all, this is “all I’ve wanted all along”
But no one seems to recall the wreckage
Every time believing turned out wrong

I’ve collected years of heartbreaks
They’re etched into scars on my chest
So, now even kindness feels suspicious
And every blessing feels like another test

[PRE-CHORUS TWO]
I keep looking for the catch or for the floor to disappear
‘Cause when you’ve been let down enough
Even miracles don’t feel sincere

[CHORUS TWO]
If this is real
Why am I so terrified?
Why am I grieving what I’ve waited for
Why can’t I look you in the eye?
This is everything I’ve wanted – NEEDED
So, why do I still feel so damn betrayed?
Is this finally my dream come true
Or just another masquerade?

[BRIDGE]
I don’t think I’m scared of the situation
Just scared to believe it’s here
'ause I know that I’m not strong enough
To survive watching it disappear
Yeah, I’ve gotten good at crying
But I can’t get my hopes up again
Just to watch them crash and burn

[FINAL CHORUS]
If this is real
Why am I so terrified?
Why am I grieving what I’ve waited for
For the last eight years of my life?
This is everything I’ve wanted – NEEDED
So, why am I so damn afraid?
Is this finally everything I’ve prayed for
Or just another masquerade?

[OUTRO]
Oh, I just wish for a moment
All the masks would be removed
Every lie revealed
And you would see
I was telling you the truth

Umm… I literally just wrote this around 4:30 this afternoon, so be gentle. 😂 The lyrics and melody are mine, but the music and vocals are AI. I recorded the melody a cappella, then uploaded it to SUNO with prompts.
