Lyrics:

Yesterday Becomes Today

Verse 1
We ran barefoot chasing endless summer skies
Carefree days, country roads, burgers, shakes and fries
Drive-in movies, secrets shared around a campfire's glow
Polaroids and teenage dreams, swore we'd never outgrow

Pre-Chorus
Who knew those years would fade away
We'd wake up watching our beautiful children play
As the years roll on we live on yesterday
This road we're traveling only runs one way

Chorus
Yesterday becomes today
Yesterday becomes today

Verse 2
College town, army boots, wedding rings, baby shoes
Punch a clock, raise our babies, try to pay our dues
Middle age came rolling in, where did all the years go
Gaze in the mirror, that forever-young face won't show

Pre-Chorus
Who knew those years would fade away
We'd wake up watching our beautiful children play
As the years roll on we live on yesterday
This road we're traveling only runs one way

Chorus
Yesterday becomes today
Yesterday becomes today

Bridge
We spent forever
Chasing tomorrow
And the days crawled on by
But the years waved bye bye

Pre-Chorus
Who knew those years would fade away
We'd wake up watching our beautiful children play
As the years roll on we live on yesterday
This road we're traveling only runs one way

Chorus
Yesterday becomes today
Yesterday becomes today

Comments by composer(s):

I presented this song at the last song review and made the following changes as suggested by our group. Redid the melody on chorus, changed bridge to a better rhyme scheme, streamlined lyrics for better song flow. Made demo used Ai enhancement tools to change vocals to a duet. Thanks for your comments.
