NO DEBATING GRAVITY
By Paul Nye
VERSE 1:
Engine roars, smell of exhaust, cold chill in the air
10,000 feet, door slides open, wind rips through my hair
I look down, wait for the count, now I’m falling free
I know what I’m doin’ and it pleases me
VERSE 2:
Falling at 120, ‘chute comes out, my body rolls & twists
Spinning out of control, I look up say, “What the hell is this”
Tangled mess above my head, I’m staring down gravity
This one bad choice – it don’t look good for me
PRE-CHORUS:
I’d done this before, I know what I’m doin’
Thought this time I’d go my way
Bend one rule, chase a new thrill,
Ha, that’s what a fool would say
CHORUS:
Life is like skydiving
You choose the door, you make the call
But every fall will land you somewhere
Cuz gravity wont bend – it don’t care at all
VERSE 3:
I’ve stood at other doorways, felt that familiar rush
Knew I shouldn’t take that step, but wanted it so much
That’s when I remembered what the hard way had taught me
Some doors stay closed – to keep us free
PRE-CHORUS:
I’d done this before, I know what I’m doin’
Thought this time I’d go my way
Bend one rule, chase a new thrill,
Ha, that’s what a fool would say
CHORUS:
Life is like skydiving
You choose the door, you make the call
But every fall will land you somewhere
Cuz gravity wont bend – it don’t care at all
CHORUS:
Life is like skydiving
You choose the door, you make the call
But every choice will land you somewhere
Cuz gravity wont bend – it don’t care at all

When I was skydiving, jumpers would get a little cocky and over-confident. That's when accidents would happen. The skydiving story in this song is true. I used this false sense of self-confidence as a metaphor for other choices we make in life where we "bend the rules" and think we can get away with it.
