Lyrics:

VERSE 1
What if love isn't meant to be found
But rather it waits for your guard to come down?
To set aside your history and look around at what might be….
What if finding love's nothing more than serendipity?

VERSE 2
What if love has always been around
But you couldn't see with your eyes looking down
The walls you built protected your heart
What if finding love means tearing them apart?

PRE-CHORUS
What if love’s been right here all along?
Guess I’ve gone about it … all wrong.

CHORUS
Small talk and martinis, hours spent alone with you.
I opened my eyes, that's all I had to do …
Call it what you will, doesn’t matter to me.
I found my love, as it was meant to be.

BRIDGE
The invitation came, it said don't be late.
Cocktails at six, dinner at eight.
I wasn't looking for love, but then, neither was he.
Quiet conversation, we talked ‘til three.
Notes on a napkin, dreams written in ink
A spilled martini, simply met with a wink.

VERSE 3
What if finding love was part of a plan
Two strangers moved by God’s quiet hand?
A gentle push, the pathway clear
Hmmm … maybe that’s what brought you here.

PRE-CHORUS
What if love’s been right here all along?
Guess I’ve gone about it … all wrong.

CHORUS
Small talk and martinis, hours spent just with you.
I opened my eyes, it’s all I had to do …
Call it what you will, doesn’t matter to me.
I found my love, as it was meant to be.

Hmmm …
Small talk and martinis … is how I found you.

Comments by composer(s):

Doug, I have to leave the zoom call by 6:45, if I can't be on the early side of the reviews, I can wait until next month. I have a Musiversal meeting to do a kickstart with this song and thought I'd get some feedback from MAS ahead of time … I have a beginning melody, which I did use with SUNO, and luckily SUNO completed it … but the final melody will likely be slightly different, so my focus for the review is on the lyrics. I know the back story … but does the story resonate or come across without knowing that???
