attitude towards / opportunities for collaborating as lyricists and composers (ie Bernie Taupin to Elton John).

although it may seems from my answers above that I am only mildly interested in songwriting, it is the “words” part that holds as opposed to the composing and production part.

Being a new member this is what I have experienced 1. On the co writes the assigned people were not interested and did not respond in a positive way 2.Reaching out to find guitarist that I liked after listening to their gallery brought little or no interest 3.I haven’t figured out how to set up a gallery or upload my work to the site 4. lots of people have no gallery or information to assess their ability

How interested are you in learning to produce/record your music? What instruments do you play? Do you sing? Do you perform in public and in what sorts of venues?

I think it would be helpful to add a monthly “Round Robin” where members discuss the recording process they are using, what they have learned, and the difficulties they are having recording and producing their music. This could be open to all levels cause how else will people learn to use the new systems.

Metro area 24 Track Tascam Recorder for recording. The upload into GarageBand for mixing. I have a variety of MXL Condenser Microphones. I also have three portable handheld recorders (Tascam and Zoom) for recording live. A group of us formed the “Minnesota Coffee Table” where we get together and write/record a song it three hours. Here is an example of our work recorded on a handheld recorder:https://alonetone.com/MinnesotaCoffeeTable/tracks 5-Extremely interested 4-Somewhat interested 2-Not very interested 4-Somewhat interested 3-Might be interested, might not 5-Extremely interested 4-Somewhat interested

I enjoy the writing and recording process and I enjoy playing music with other people. The “Minnesota Coffee Table” (Write and Record a song in 3 hours) idea is one of my favorites. It would be fun to go back and actually record a better version of the songs but I don’t know how to address the co-written element of it.

I publish almost everything that I write. I would enjoy co-writing even more if I knew how to share royalties. CD Baby, my “go to” distributor, wont do that. Distro Kid is only good until the contract stops (From what I understand). I wonder if anyone knows of an easy solution?

There is a question above asking about live performance. I’m interested in that but not where I get up and sing 3 songs and done. I’d be more interested in doing an hour show with other writers where we play the whole performance supporting the music. I just played with John Bennett at an assisted living place. We played for 90 minutes. We are not familiar with each others songs, but we did great with it.

Metro area In a professional studio, My home set up has been, and is currently, overtly simple with a digital recorder to record guitar-vocal demos and process it with Sound Forge or another editor. I’d gotten great comments on those, but am currently struggling for a non-digital recorder system (PC interface) which actually works well with XLR connected mikes. 5-Extremely interested 4-Somewhat interested 5-Extremely interested 5-Extremely interested 4-Somewhat interested 5-Extremely interested 4-Somewhat interested
