Carolina Rain

Carolina Rain was written strictly by an image of a late 20s – early 30s lady sitting on a dock.

Her bare feet were barely touching the calm water.

She was dressed in cut-off jean shorts with some of that white thready fray at the bottom. She wore a light blue tank-top with a long-sleeve denim shirt over the top rolled up at the elbows and tied off at the mid-drift.

She was a shapely, medium build, well-put together lady. She had long, straight Mahogany colored hair. Green eyes with thinner red lips. She wasn’t a model but plenty attractive in an ordinary way right down to her country-girl looking freckles.

She had a searching , sad, almost painful look on her face.

That was the mental image I had of her.

You might find it interesting I’m a blind songwriter. But it is extremely important to have the visuals in my mind, even though none of what I just told you is in the song. The picture created the story that was to follow in Carolina Rain.
